The greenfield plant of Egypt Basic Industries Corporation (EBIC) is capable of producing 0.7 million tons of anhydrous ammonia annually.
The plant produced its first ammonia in April 2009 and achieved full impact in the fourth quarter of 2009. EBIC is strategically located by Sokhna Port (next to the fertilizer plant of Egyptian Fertilizers Company).
The plant has a direct link to the new bulk liquid export jetty via a dedicated 8 kilometer pipeline. Egypt Basic Industries Corporation is one of the largest fertilizer exporters on the Suez Canal.
