CSR at Algerian Cement Co.

As part of its corporate citizenship activities, ACC has launched two programs to improve its relations with the local communities surrounding the plant. Under the Cement Technicians Development Program (CTDP), ACC selected 27 candidates from the local community to be trained as multi-skilled cement technicians. The program will last for 8 months, by which time the successful graduates will be ready to be hired as part of the ACC operations team. The CTDP is split into phases and alternates between classroom and on-the- job training. The trainees learn about the cement industry, basic technical knowledge and computer applications and receive hands-on specialist training in different production departments.

Under the Cement Engineers Development Program (CEDP), ACC reached an agreement with Mohamed
Boudiaf University in M'sila under which their best engineering graduates would be given the opportunity to receive cement technology training, specialized equipment training and multi-skills development training over a one year period. A total of 12 candidates were chosen out of 80 graduates to participate in the initial CEDP. Both programs are expected to produce technically competent employees who will make a long term commitment to ACC as well as increase awareness of ACC as an admired employer in the area.
